Advanced Acoustic Engineering Delivers Measurable Gains in Focus, Noise Reduction, and Workplace Performance.

Veridian Technologies, a global leader in software solutions, designed its new headquarters campus in Silicon Valley, California, to support modern collaboration and innovation. The campus features the flagship Infinite Collaboration Zone, an open-plan space spanning more than 5,000 square meters intended to foster teamwork and cross-functional interaction.

Preliminary testing revealed that excessive ambient noise and a lack of acoustic privacy negatively affected employee focus and productivity within the open-plan environment. Veridian required a solution capable of managing noise while aligning with its modern, tech-forward aesthetic and employee wellness philosophy. China’s leading PET acoustic panel manufacturer, ROOAOO, undertook this core challenge.

The project, titled “Project Echo-Free” – Acoustic Optimization for the Open-Plan Collaboration Zone, was delivered for Veridian Technologies Inc., headquartered in San Jose, California, USA. The project objectives included reducing ambient noise levels by at least 60 percent and controlling reverberation time below 0.6 seconds to comply with ANSI S12.60 acoustic performance standards.

Design, Sustainability, and Installation Requirements

All materials were required to meet UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification and California Proposition 65 requirements, supporting Veridian’s sustainability goals and employee well-being. The acoustic panel design was required to integrate seamlessly with the headquarters’ minimalist, high-tech interior language, characterized by extensive glass usage, clean lines, and neutral tones, with acoustic treatments functioning as decorative elements.

Implementation was required to align with a phased relocation plan, necessitating a modular solution with an installation cycle compressed within two weeks.

Acoustic Products and On-Site Installation

Veridian achieved an effective sound absorption ratio (NRC) of 0.95 by strategically installing RooAoo's custom-manufactured acoustic panels in key ceiling and wall areas. Before installation, Veridian requested custom acoustic panels from RooAoo, providing corresponding design drawings and wall area specifications. RooAoo then custom-produced professionally tested acoustic panels based on these requirements.

All acoustic panel were manufactured from 100% recycled polyester felt and carried Cradle to Cradle Silver (C2C)certification, ensuring zero VOC emissions and alignment with circular economy principles.

The geometric panels were produced in colors reflecting Veridian’s corporate palette, including Tech Blue and Deep Space Gray. Ceiling fabric panels were designed to integrate with the existing lighting system to maintain a consistent visual flow.

RooAoo utilizes the patented "Click & Mount" suspension system, with all components prefabricated in the factory, eliminating the need for on-site cutting or complex tools. A six-person installation team completed the installation of all required acoustic panels within 10 business days.

Performance Results and Workplace Impact

Final acoustic measurements demonstrated a 68 percent reduction in ambient noise levels within the core collaboration zone. Reverberation time was stabilized at 0.55 seconds, and the Speech Transmission Index (STI) improved to 0.75, classified as an excellent level.

A follow-up internal survey reported a 45 percent increase in employee satisfaction related to focus in the work environment. Complaints associated with noise disruption were reduced by 90 percent.

The project has been internally referred to as the “Silent Innovation Hub,” and Veridian has indicated plans to adopt its acoustic standards across global offices.
