The Daikin Seattle Experience Center recently had the pleasure of hosting 24 students from Raisbeck Aviation High School for an engaging introduction to career opportunities in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector. This distinctive educational initiative was organized at the request of the City of Tukwila's Inclusion and Engagement Manager, who aimed to provide local students with a chance to delve into the extensive possibilities available within the HVAC industry.
Following the initial outreach, the team at the Daikin Seattle Experience Center worked closely with the Career Specialists from Highline Public Schools to ensure that the visit would be impactful and tailored to the students' interests. Before the event, Career Specialists conducted a tour of the showroom to assess its appropriateness for an educational field trip-and the venue surpassed expectations, presenting an ideal setting for interactive learning.
On December 10th, the students participated in a comprehensive program designed to immerse them in the world of Daikin and showcase the innovations within the HVAC industry, including advanced technologies, sustainability-driven engineering, and the variety of professional roles that contribute to this vital sector.
The day commenced with a guided tour of the Daikin Seattle Experience Center. Students explored state-of-the-art HVAC systems, discovered energy-efficient solutions that are shaping the future of the industry, and gained an understanding of how Daikin's global leadership manifests in practical applications.
To enhance the experience, students were organized into small groups of five to engage in rotating breakout sessions with Thermal Supply team members who represented key sectors within the HVAC profession. These included:
Company President
Operations Manager
Marketing Director
Sales Manager
Technical Service Manager
During these sessions, each leader provided students with an insider's view of their daily tasks, personal career paths, and the diverse opportunities available within their areas of expertise. The students gained insights into both technical and non-technical career options-broadening their comprehension of the HVAC field's richness and accessibility.
"We were excited to welcome such an engaged and inquisitive group of students," stated the Daikin Seattle Experience Center team. "Fostering the next generation of professionals in the industry is fundamental to our mission. Initiatives like this enable young individuals to uncover the multitude of career options in HVAC, ranging from engineering and technology to operations, business, and customer service."
The Daikin Seattle Experience Center anticipates ongoing collaboration with local schools, community initiatives, and workforce development programs to inspire and empower the talent of tomorrow.
