Some history experts believe Janus may even pre-date the Roman Empire and have ties to Etruria. This ancient civilization existed in the region where Central Italy now sits from the 8th century B.C. through the 4th century B.C. before eventually becoming a part of the Roman Republic.
Since then, Janus has come to represent transitions, progress, transformations, duality, and fresh starts. Janus is traditionally depicted with two faces, one looking to the future and the other looking back at the past. January, the first month of the year, gets its name from Janus for this reason, and The Law Offices of Larry D. Simons has followed its lead by using Janus as the inspiration for its new name.
